Construction deliveries. A clear receiving plan.

A delivery to a workshop or active site needs a practical plan: the goods, the actual entrance, the person receiving them and the equipment available to unload.

Connect the supplier release to the site requirement.

For a missing component, replacement tool or planned supply movement, give the supplier’s collection reference and the time the complete order will be available. Explain when the site needs it and who can confirm readiness. A supplier’s opening hours are not confirmation that an order is ready to collect.

We arrange journeys to and from Cornwall and across the UK. An urgent requirement can be reviewed for same-day courier delivery where the route, available time and suitable transport allow. For planned work, share the preferred date and the site’s receiving window.

Describe the packaged load.

List each case, carton, crate, long item or pallet with its dimensions and weight. Include the length of rails, frames or other awkward pieces, and whether they must remain upright. Tell us about sharp edges, fragile finishes and goods that cannot be stacked.

  • Give the total piece count and packaged weight per item.
  • Include the pallet base and any overhang in the measurements.
  • Describe liquids, batteries or materials needing checks before acceptance.
  • Send photographs if the shape or loading arrangement is difficult to explain.

Give directions to the delivery entrance.

A site postcode may cover several gates or an unfinished development. Provide the named entrance, site contact and agreed handover point, plus any booking-in instructions. Explain narrow approaches, height limits, ground conditions and where the vehicle can turn or wait safely.

For pallets or heavier goods, confirm what unloading equipment and authorised help will be available. A courier delivery does not automatically include lifting goods into position, crane work or installation. Those requirements must be described and agreed separately.

Plan changes, returns and regular work.

For several sites, list the stops in order and identify the goods changing hands at each one. Keep tool returns and supplier returns on the same brief, with their own references and packed-ready times. If access or timing changes after booking, send the booking reference with the update.

Use scheduled delivery or a trade account enquiry for recurring movements. European and worldwide goods need a shipment-specific review: email both countries, the contents, value and purpose through our international enquiry route.

A few details, made clear.

View all questions & answers
What if there are stairs, a long carry or difficult access?

Explain the floors, carry distance, doorway and stair dimensions, stopping place and the goods’ size and weight. Photographs can help clarify the route from the vehicle to the handover point. Additional handling and any extra person must be arranged beforehand; selecting a larger vehicle does not provide a two-person crew or confirm safe access.

Does choosing a Luton include a tail lift or pallet truck?

Do not assume that a category name confirms equipment availability or suitability for your load. State the equipment needed at each address. The actual lift platform, safe working load, combined weight being lifted and ground conditions need checking separately from the vehicle payload. Include the weight of any handling equipment that must travel on the lift.

Can I request a fixed delivery time or receiving appointment?

Yes. Give the exact appointment, correct receiving entrance and a contact who can accept the goods. Dedicated and Premium allow requested dates and times for review. Standard uses flexible, operator-selected days, so a fixed appointment needs review for Premium or Dedicated. Fixed appointments are outside Economy. Make clear whether the deadline means arrival at the gate or completed unloading and handover.

What loading and unloading help is included?

The four UK road options include basic, safe assistance from one driver for packed goods at an easily accessible ground-floor entrance, without stairs or a long carry. Waiting, loading and unloading share the selected service’s included stop-time allowance. Intensive work, additional people or specialist equipment need prior review and an agreed plan. International assistance is confirmed individually.
