Parts and equipment. A clear transport plan.

When a component, tool or piece of equipment needs to move, a useful brief connects the production requirement with the collection and delivery arrangements.

Start with readiness and the deadline.

A replacement component needed to finish a job has a different brief from a planned supplier collection. Tell us when the complete load will be released, the latest acceptable arrival and whether that deadline is essential. Include the supplier contact who can confirm that the goods are ready.

We arrange journeys into Cornwall from suppliers elsewhere, outward deliveries and UK-wide movements between business sites. For an urgent UK requirement, same-day delivery can be assessed against the route, available time and suitable transport.

Ask the supplier to confirm the release reference, exact collection point and complete package count. If an old part is returning for repair or exchange, describe that movement separately: the return authorisation if required, its packed-ready time and the goods coming back. Do not assume that the replacement delivery includes collecting the old part.

Describe the load as it will travel.

Identify each packaged part, case, crate or pallet. Give its external dimensions and weight, including protective packaging. Flag protruding components, a high centre of gravity, surfaces that need protection and anything that must stay upright. A product drawing does not replace the final packaged measurements.

  • Provide the number of pieces and any supplier release reference.
  • State whether goods can be stacked or must remain in one position.
  • Describe liquids, batteries or other contents needing review before transport.
  • Explain any requirement for an exclusive vehicle or a journey without transfers.

Agree loading at both sites.

For pallets and heavier equipment, say what lifting equipment is available and who will operate it. Give the loading-bay location, gatehouse instructions and any vehicle restrictions. Do not assume that a vehicle booking includes machinery lifting, a second person or installation.

If the receiving team works to fixed hours, give the final goods-in time rather than the office closing time. Include a contact able to accept the actual consignment and confirm where it should be handed over.

Plan repeat routes and cross-border movements.

For regular supplier collections, outline the usual frequency and how the load changes. Scheduled delivery and trade arrangements can then be discussed together. For European or worldwide shipments, include both countries, the goods value and whether the movement is a sale, repair or return. International arrangements are reviewed for the shipment.

Use a quote for a straightforward UK delivery, or email the full brief when loading, several stops or an essential deadline needs more explanation.

A few details, made clear.

View all questions & answers
Can I request a fixed delivery time or receiving appointment?

Yes. Give the exact appointment, correct receiving entrance and a contact who can accept the goods. Dedicated and Premium allow requested dates and times for review. Standard uses flexible, operator-selected days, so a fixed appointment needs review for Premium or Dedicated. Fixed appointments are outside Economy. Make clear whether the deadline means arrival at the gate or completed unloading and handover.

Can I use one average size for a mixed load?

Please provide an item list instead. An average can hide a long, heavy or awkward piece, and total volume does not prove that different shapes fit together. Give each type of item its own packaged dimensions, weight and quantity. Include stacking restrictions and identify which pieces move between which stops on a multi-stop journey.

Can you arrange a return collection after a delivery or event?

Yes, send the outward and return requirements together. Include both sets of addresses and dates, what will travel in each direction and when the returning goods will be packed and accessible. A return journey is not automatically included in the outward price or covered by its receiving appointment; the complete arrangement needs confirmation.

What loading and unloading help is included?

The four UK road options include basic, safe assistance from one driver for packed goods at an easily accessible ground-floor entrance, without stairs or a long carry. Waiting, loading and unloading share the selected service’s included stop-time allowance. Intensive work, additional people or specialist equipment need prior review and an agreed plan. International assistance is confirmed individually.
